Cardinal Tree Bath

The Northern Cardinal is one of my favorite birds. The males are solid red with a black mask and chin; the females are brownish-gray with red wings and a smaller crest. They are skittish and typically don't sit long on a perch.

This male Cardinal perched on a branch for a few seconds and then disappeared. I waited a few seconds, and it popped up in the wet leaves. It looked like it was enjoying the water on the leaves.

After a few minutes, it perched itself back on one of the main branches.

It again disappeared and popped back up in another area, looking right into my camera.

After a minute or two, it ruffled its feathers and took off.

It again disappeared in the tree, and this time it came out to one of the outer branches and posed for me. Watching this Cardinal enjoy the wet leaves to cool itself off was fascinating.

Photography should be fun! It's not about the phone or camera brand you're using. Remember, your best photographs result from one thing, making an effort to get out and shoot.
