Spring is in the air and it's time to start shooting more wildlife. On a beautiful sunny morning, I packed up my gear I went to the bird sanctuary.
As I drove into the parking lot I noticed that there was an unusually large amount of cars in the parking lot. I thought that only meant one thing, other photographers had the same idea.
As I walked down to Wintergreen Lake my observation was right. There were about six other photographers setup taking photographs.
I must confess I'm out of practice shooting birds in flight. I've been shooting too many concerts and grandkids rather than fast flying wildlife. After about a half-hour I started getting back in the rhythm of anticipating them getting ready to fly and tracking incoming birds.
I need some more practice as I've got a trip planned at the end of March to the Iain Nicolson Audubon Center at Rowe Sanctuary in Kearney NE. This is where the Sandhill Cranes stop at the Platt River to feed and rest before completing there migratory journey North for the season.
I've got a blind rented right on the river, I hoping for good weather and possibly getting some nice pictures.
