The Marshall Blues Festival is alway a fun event. It features music from bands in our area, to festival headlines. We attended the BCMAMS Raft Race earlier in the day so we didn’t arrive in Marshall until after the 6 pm.
The first act we watched on the main stage was the Luke Repass Band. The Chicago based band entertained the crowd with a mix of hard driving blues and strong vocals.
On several occasions they came out in to the crowd playing and singing with the help of some of the festival fans. It’s always fun to watch as these talented musicians interact with the crowd.
Danae and the Grind a local band from Marshall played on the beer tent stage. They played throughout the day between main stage acts.
We caught the last set of the day and they had the beer tent crowd rocking. Danae with her hard driving vocals, backed a really tight band seemed the perfect recipe for fun under the beer tent.
The headliner act Big Al & The Heavyweights from Louisiana played all types of music. From Cajun to Zydeco, to Blues to Rock. The band members were all really talented. They took turns playing and singing all these different types of music, it made for a very entertaining show.
The crowd filling most of the downtown, danced and clapped with the band throughout the night. The band has members that have played over 30 years together.
Thanks Marshall, for hosting another great free blues festival.
