Spring is around the corner and I’m ready to get out my Harley and do some riding. I received an email that Cement City Harley Davidson was having their annual open house. They were also giving away two gift certificates and a new 750 Sport Harley Davidson motorcycle.
The dealership built a museum a few years ago and it was going to be open during the open house. It’s never been open when I’ve been at the dealership so I was excited to see the museum for the first time.
The dealership had a 1981 Heritage Edition a few years back and I was hoping that it would be on display. This limited edition model has leather saddlebags made by Pac-Kit Saddlebags. The saddlebags were made right here in Michigan by my son in law BJ late grandfather Joe. BJ now runs the company.
The bike was not on display and I asked one of the workers if they still owned the bike. He told me they still have the bike but it was being stored in another building.
I was surprised to see a 1973 blue FLH (above) that had the same “Bertha” saddlebags as the 81 Heritage. After all those years the saddlebags still looked great.
One of the things I really enjoy is looking at the paint and badges that Harley uses on their tanks. If you follow Harley’s you will recognize some of the distinct badges that they have used over the years.
There were a lot of people at the dealership and the museum has some really beautiful old Harleys.
As 2 pm. came closer the crowd got bigger in anticipation of winning a brand new Harley Davidson. The whole area filled in closer as they started drawing out the winners.
To make a long story short, I came home from a fun day talking with fellow motorcycle enthusiasts and some pictures for my blog...
Think Spring!
