t's a sign of seasons change as Sandhill Cranes are filling some of the fields looking for food. I've been watching one fresh-cut area near my house for about a week.
I had planned on getting up before sunrise to get some Cranes flying into the field. As I woke and looked at the clock, it was already 7 am. and I had missed the sunrise. I hurried up, made some coffee, and headed to the field.
As I drove up and parked on the side of the road, I noticed a lot of bird activity. I stayed in my Jeep, rolled down the window, and used a pillow to support my camera.
After about an hour, I did get a few Cranes that flew into the field. I would have liked to have more opportunities, but that did not happen.
I pair of Doves sitting on a wire above was watching below as the Cranes were busy feeding in the field. They didn't seem bothered and sat there the whole time I was shooting the cranes.
There were also four deer, two doe and two bucks that ran through the field. The feeding Cranes and Geese didn't seem to notice them.
Sandhill Cranes are my favorite bird, and I look forward to the fall migration. I'm sure I'll get more opportunities to photograph them as the summer season starts to change.
Photography should be fun! It's not about the phone or camera brand you're using. Always remember, your best photographs are the result of one thing, making an effort to get out and shoot.
