Aransas National Wildlife Refuge is best known as the wintering home of the last wild flock of endangered whooping cranes. The Refuge has stunning scenery and a diversity of wildlife.

It's spring break in Texas, and we went to Rockport Beach. The almost empty beaches last week are full of families enjoying the water.

It's been warm the last several days, but a cold front came through last night. When I got up today, it was 36 degrees, so we stayed inside most of the day.

The Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center has an observation area for birds, alligators & fish. It features a boardwalk & tower with panoramic views of the wetland area.

The weather forecast was partly sunny with mild temperatures. I decided to do an early sunrise shoot with a friend Dave at our RV park.

It was a cold, windy morning with temperatures in the low fifties; by the afternoon, the clouds cleared, and the sun came out, so I decided to head over to the marina to see if there were any birds.

Southern Texas is in the migratory North American Central Flyway. As part of the Central Flyway, Texas is valuable for migrating birds.
